About Parish Councils

The Parish Council consists of local people elected by the community to represent their views and aspirations.

They are the voice of the people representing the views of the community and are responsible to the people they represent.

The role of the parish council is to work towards improving the well-being of its community and providing services at the most local level, in its own right and also in partnership with other bodies, such as the Police, Shropshire Council, Severnside Housing , Severn Trent and when relevant other Parish Councils

Atcham Parish Council consists of seven Parish Councillors who are elected to the Parish Council.  The Parish Council employs one part time clerk who is the first point of contact for all enquiries.

Parish Council meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday in May, July, September, November, January and March at The Old Malthouse starting at 7.30pm.   The exact date and time of each meeting will be confirmed on the agenda published about one week prior to the meeting (see separate page from the drop-down menu).

The May meeting will be preceded by The Annual Parish Meeting starting at 7.00pm.  All electors of the parish are invited and may speak on any issue they choose and vote on any debate.  The Chairman of the Council will chair the meeting, but it is not a formal meeting of the Council and any decisions made are advisory to the Council rather than compulsory.

For more information please visit the Agenda page on the website
